In a society where inequality is rising, are we better off if the overall economy grows, and no individual has less than before? On November 4, 2008 at the World Bank Headquarters, Robert Frank, H.J. Louis Professor of Management and Professor of Economics, Cornell University, demonstrated how relative position affects group and individual welfare, and how rising inequality harms the middle class.
