| Washington D.C. – On February 12th, 2009 the World Bank Institute (WBI) presented the live videoconference event entitled Global Dialogue Series: The Macroeconomic and Financial Policy Response to the Global Economic Crisis. This event was the third in a new series entitled Global Dialogues as a Response to the Global Economic Crisis. Hosted in Washington D.C., the following global videoconference event focused on the impacts of the crisis and assessed the macroeconomic and financial policy responses required to address the crisis and to manage the growth and distribution effects. Senior officials from Brazil, China, India, Macedonia, Mexico and South Africa attended the conference via video conference. Additionally, Professor Guillermo Calvo of Columbia University, spoke in regards to macroeconomic policy challenges facing the countries, followed by Professor Patrick Honohan of Trinity College, Dublin, who discussed financial sector policies in European countries. |
