Title:
GLOBAL WORKSHOP-TURNING CRISES INTO OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH REGULATORY REFORMS |
| Date:
3/19/2009
- 3/20/2009 |
| The current global economic downturn fueled by a severe financial crisis has set in motion a renewed call for re-assessing regulatory reform policies and priorities and the need for global coordination and regional cooperation. All countries, developing and developed, are facing critical choices. The issues are urgent and imperative: How to navigate in the fast changing global economic environment and turn crises into opportunities. The severity of the current financial crisis goes beyond the capability of any one government, and consensus-building is needed for concerted actions.
On March 19-March 20, 2009, the Investment Climate Capacity Enhancement Program of the World Bank Institute (WBI) organized a Global Peer-Learning Workshop to discuss improving the investment climate towards job creation and high quality growth. It successfully provided just-in-time knowledge service by connecting practitioners from different countries to discuss and distill lessons from past crises and reforms, both successes and failures, on what has worked and what has not, and why. |
