GRAPPLING WITH HEALTH WORKER SHORTAGES

On September 17, 2009, the World Bank’s Human Development Network team held the event “Grappling with Health Worker Shortages” to launch the book Financing and Managing the Public Sector Health Workforce. Showcasing examples from the Dominican Republic, Kenya, Rwanda and Zambia, the book focuses on strategies governments are employing to address the issue of health worker shortages in the labor force. The book closely examines the role of international financial organizations as well as local governments. The event was chaired by Phil Hay, Communications Advisor at the World Bank’s Human Development Network.
