Event Title:
A DECADE OF ACTION IN TRANSPORT
Date: 4/17/2007 - 4/17/2007
In developing countries, more than half the population lives at least eight kilometers from the nearest health clinic. 1.2 million people are killed yearly in road accidents, mainly in developing nations. With millions of people around the world streaming into urban centers, transportation is an increasingly important issue for the World Bank. This event, held at the Washington offices of the World Bank on April 17th, 2007, introduced Peter Freeman’s report ‘A Decade of Action in Transport: An Evaluation of World Bank Assistance to the Transport Sector, 1995-2005’ by bringing together four panelists to discuss the topic
