| Date:
6/19/2006
- 6/19/2006 |
| Since its 1999 decision to transition to a market-based economy, Libya has undergone rapid progress and reforms. These include the decision to surrender its weapons of mass destruction and the lifting of UN sanctions against the country, as well as initiatives to foster private sector reform and human development. On June 19, 2006, the World Bank’s Middle East and North Africa Vice Presidency and the Maghreb Center sponsored a panel to discuss Libya’s current status and its future development. |
