On February 23-25, 2009, the Environment and Social Development Department (CES) of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) held its annual Sustainability Knowledge Week in Johannesburg, South Africa. Practitioners from the Africa, MENA (Middle East and North Africa) regions gathered to exchange knowledge and practice experience in sustainability and climate change.
In this video, Patty Miller, IFC Manager for the CES Investment Group concluded her presentation on the organization’s sustainability risk management. Rodd Eddy, Senior Director for OSRAM Sustainability discussed sustainability in the context of the global financial crisis. Eddy delved into innovative business solutions that help low-income homes access proper lighting in Africa.
Monika Weber-Fahr, IFC Manager and Sustainability Business Innovator and Business Line Leader provided an overview of the IFC’s advisory services in the field of sustainability. The conversation focused on the impact of the Advisory services products and the experience of the IFC in this area. Weber-Fahr also expanded on the IFC’s role in leveraging firm’s business savvy in expanding social, environmental awareness in its projects.
