 DESCRIPTION
Promoting the full development of youth and responding to their needs are essential to ensuring future stability. These concepts have been at the forefront of several World Bank initiatives including the Conference on Youth in South Eastern Europe. On August 26, 2002, the World Bank Institute’s Development Outreach Series addressed the issues and the challenges of including youth in development. These topics were also covered in the Spring 2002 issue of the publication, Development Outreach.

The panel consisted of Djordjija Petkoski (World Bank Institute); Gloria La Cava (World Europe and Central Asia Region); Keith Fulton (AOL Time Warner Foundation); and Anthony Bloome (World Bank Institute). The presenters discussed their work with audience members from academia, civil society, and other professions in Bosnia Herzegovina, FYR Macedonia, Yugoslavia, and Uganda. Topics included case studies from Macedonia and South Africa; the contributions of teenagers to overcoming the AIDS pandemic; and corporate social responsibility.
