Oliver
Page was educated at Manchester Grammar
School and Trinity College Cambridge.
From university he joined the Bank
of England in1968. Positions held
whilst at the Bank include: Chief
Manager, Reserves Management; 1996
Deputy Director, Supervision and
Surveillance.
On
1st June 1998, on the move to the
FSA, he became Director of the Complex
Groups Division. This division was
responsible for the supervision of
complex banking and investment banking
groups. This evolved in April 2001
into Major Financial Groups Division,
which added responsibility for the
UK's major insurance groups. This
now evolves further to Major Retail
Groups Division, which will focus
mainly on (more) of the major UK
banks and insurance companies, plus
some large building societies, fund
managers and IFA networks.
In
addition he also represents the FSA
on the Basel Committee of Banking
Supervisors. From April 2004 he will
be the Sector Leader for financial
stability and business continuity
planning, as part of which he is
on the Tripartite Standing Committee.
He is also responsible for various
FSA projects including two of this
year's business priorities
on treating customers fairly, which
aims to ensure firms build tcf into
their businesses, and on ARROW, which
aims to improve this core framework
of risk based regulation and build
it more fully into all aspects of
FSA's working life.
