Andrew
Powell is currently Professor and
Director of the Graduate Programs
in Finance at the Universidad Torcuato
Di Tella in Buenos Aires. He holds
a BA, MPhil and Dphil from the University
of Oxford and was Prize Research
Fellow at Nuffield College, Oxford.
Subsequently he was Lecturer at London
University (Queen Mary and Westfield
College) and at the University of
Warwick in their respective economics
departments. In 1994, he moved to
Argentina and joined the Central
Bank of Argentina in March 1995 and
subsequently became the Chief Economist
of the Central Bank in 1996. He joined
the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella
in May 2001. He has published papers
in several leading journals and most
recently has published on the role
of World Bank, on dollarization and
monetary and financial policies for
emerging economies, on banking sector
regulation and performance and on
the political economy of fiscal policy.
