Mr.
Kostas Tsatsaronis studied ecudeshionomics
at the Athens School of Economics,
Wayne State University, and University
of California at Berkeley. He joined
the Monetary and Economic Department
of the Bank for International Settlements
the summer of 1994. His research
work spans a variety of topics related
to monetary policy and financial
markets and institutions.
Mr.
Tsatsaronis work on monetary
policy relates to the transmission
mechanism of monetary policy and
in particular to the existence of
a bank credit channel in four industrialized
countries. He has also worked on
the attribution of the leading indicator
property of the slope of the term
structure for future economic activity
to monetary policy and macroeconomic
factors.
Over
the past few years, Mr. Tsatsaronis
focus has been on financial stability
issues and the role of institutional
investors in financial markets. Projects
include the estimation of hedge fund
strategies, the impact of international
capital flows on domestic market
conditions, and a characterization
of the shifts in market participants
attitude towards financial risk.
He is currently working on issues
related to systemic financial risk
and macro-prudential supervision.
