Mrs.
K. J.Udeshi has over thirty five
years of experience as a central
banker. Within the Reserve Bank,
she has been at the forefront of
dismantling exchange controls and
ushering in liberalization in capital
account transactions.
Her
present responsibilities include
oversight of all commercial banks
public, private and foreign
all India financial institutions
and non-bank finance companies. In
her capacity as a Member of the Core
Principles Liaison Group (CPLG) of
the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision
her immediate challenges would be
to implement soon-to-be-finalised
revised Basel II Capital Accord in
India.
She
is currently vice chairman of the
Board for Financial Supervision (BFS)
which performs integrated supervision
over the Indian financial system.
She
has been on the Board of State Bank
of India, the largest bank in India.
She
is currently on the Governing Board
of Securities & Exchange Board
of India (SEBI), the apex body for
regulating capital market in India.
She also represents RBI on the Board
of National Bank for Agriculture
& Rural Development (NABARD).
She is Chairperson of Deposit Insurance
& credit Guarantee Corporation
(DICGC).
