George (Yiorgos) Allayannis

George
Allayannis is an Assistant Professor of Business
Administration at the Darden Graduate School
of Business at the University of Virginia. He
has taught both in the MBA Program (First Year
Finance; Portfolio and Capital Markets, second
year electives) and Executive Program (Developing
Managerial Excellence, Investment Banking, Gulf
Executive Development Program). His current
research focuses on the use of currency derivatives
and their impact on firm value, exchange-rate
risk, and investment, as well as on the use
of alternative risk management strategies by
U.S. and East Asian firms. His research has
appeared in leading journals, such as the Review
of Financial Studies, Journal of International
Money and Finance and the American Economic
Review. His dissertation on modeling exchange-rate
risk won the NYU Salomon Center Award for Excellence
through research in finance in May 1997. He
holds a PhD in Finance from New York Universitys
Stern School of Business, an MBA from the University
of Massachusetts and an Electrical Engineering
degree from the National Technical University
of Athens.
