Dr Carmichaels career experience includes
20 years in senior positions with the Reserve
Bank of Australia, seven years as Professor
of Finance at Bond University and appointment
to a number of Government inquiries and Government
and private sector Boards. In 1996/97 he served
as a member of the Wallis Inquiry which recommended
sweeping changes to Australias regulatory
structure. He is currently Chairman of the Australian
Prudential Regulation Authority. He is a private
consultant to the World Bank, the Asian Development
Bank and a number of countries in the area of
regulatory structures and policy.
Dr
Carmichael has a Ph.D from Princeton University
and has published in a number of the worlds
leading journals, including the American Economic
Review and the Journal of Finance. In 1995 he
was awarded an Officer in the Order of Australia
for service to education, finance and the community.
