Mohd Razif Abdul Kadir is currently the Assistant
Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia. The Assistant
Governors current responsibilities include
covering the regulation and development of conventional
banking, insurance, development financial institutions
and Islamic Banking and Takaful. He is also
responsible for the internal risk management
of Bank Negara Malaysia. As Assistant Governor,
Mr. Abdul Kadir also sits on the BNM Management
Committee, which is chaired by the Governor.
The Management Committee is responsible for
formulating major policies of the bank. Mr.
Abdul Kadir is also a member of the Investment
Panel of the Employees Provident Fund, National
Trust Fund, and Danaharta Oversight Committee,
which is the asset management corporation set
up by the government to address the banking
system non-performing loans arising form the
financial crises. He also sits on the Steering
Committee of the Corporate Debt Restructuring
Committee.
Previously,
Mr. Abdul Kadir was the Director General of
the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority
(LOFSA). As Director General of LOFSA, he spearheaded
the International Islamic Financial Market project.
He also served as the Director of Bank Regulation
Department at BNM during the Asian Financial
Crisis. He was significantly involved in formulating
comprehensive action plans to ensure the continued
resilience of the banking system, which was
vital to speed upt he recovery process. Among
the important initiatives implemented by BNM
was the setting up of the Pengurusan Danaharta
Nasional Berhad (asset management corporation),
the Danamodal Nasional Berhad (the bank recapitalization
agency) and the Corporate Debt Restructuring
Committee.
Mr.
Abdul Kadir holds a Master of Business Administration
from Syracuse University in New York and a Bachelor
of Economics from the University of Malaya in
Kuala Lumpur.
