Mr. Jorge Patiño was manager of Fondesif, and as such, responsible for negotiating and structuring all bank strengthening operations during the Bolivian 1995 banking crisis. As General Superintendent for the Bolivian financial sector during 1997 to 1998, he was responsible for monitoring the activities of the superintendents of banks, insurance and securities.

He is a program leader with the Toronto Centre for Financial Sector Supervision for the last three years, and a member of its board of directors and its banking advisory board for the last year.

Before that, he was active in privatization and investment banking operations in Latin America. Presently he works as development manager for a power company.

He has a Ph D from the University of Minnesota, and was a mathematics professor at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro.
