Mauricio
Cárdenas is currently President of Titularizadora
Colombiana, an IFC- sponsored initiative in order
to develop Colombia's secondary mortgage market. Between
1998 and 2000 he was Minister of Transportation and
Director of National Planning of the Republic of Colombia.
He also served as Minister of Economic Development
in 1994 and as General Manager of the Empresa de Energía
de Bogotá in 1993.
He
also has an extensive academic career associated with
Fedesarrollo (Colombia's leading think-tank), where
he has held a variety of positions including Executive
Director between 1996 and 1998. Since 1992 he has
taught at the Universidad de los Andes, where he earned
his master and undergraduate degrees. Mr. Cardenas
holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University
of California, Berkeley.
