President and Chief Executive Officer

Alex
J. Pollock has been President and Chief Executive
Officer of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago,
a $60 billion wholesale bank, since 1991. He is the
architect of the innovative Mortgage Partnership Finance
(MPF) Program, which has grown to over $35 billion
in assets since its introduction in 1997. Mr. Pollock
is a Past President of the Interntaional Union for
Housing Finance and the Bankers' Club of Chicago;
a life member of the Center for Financial Institutions
and Markets of Northwestern University; a Director
of the Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation and
the Great Books Foundation; and a Trustee of the Illinois
Council on Economic Education. He has received the
American Enterprise Award from the Praire Institute
and the Rauen Legislative Award from the Illinois
League of Financial Institutions for the development
of the MPF Program. Previously, he was President and
Chief Executive Officer of Community Federal Savings
in St. Louis; a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve
Bank of St. Louis; President of Marine Bank, N.A.
in Milwaukee; and served at Continental Illinois National
Bank in incresasing responsibilites in Belgium, Germany
and Chicago, becoming a Senior Vice President in 1982.
THe author of numerous articles on banking, financial
systems, and management, he is an honors graduate
of WIlliam College and holds Master's degrees from
the University of Chicago in Philosophy and Princeton
University in International Relations.
