Mr.
Hector Ibarra

Hector
Ibarra has been Reinsurance Director & Research
and Development Director of Agroasemex since
2001, where he has developed an extensive experience
in risk management related issues for the rural
sector.
Within
the duties he has performed, Mr. Ibarra has
been responsible for the design of the retrocession
programs of Agroasemex, a government owned reinsurance
company specialized in the rural sector of Mexico
(agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, etc.).
In this regard he was the responsible for the
design of the first weather derivative transaction
for a development country.
As
responsible of the consulting activities (R&D),
he has leaded the efforts for the design of
a computational CAT model to quantify the exposure
for agriculture in Mexico. He has also participated
as the leader consultant in countries like Nicaragua
& Colombia, assessing those countries in
risk management issues related to agriculture.
Prior
to this, Hector Ibarra worked in several projects
related to rural financial markets in Mexico,
sponsored by the Government of Mexico &
The World Bank.
Mr.
Ibarra holds an economist degree from the Instituto
Tecnológico Autónomo de México
(ITAM), and will be engaged in a Master of Science
in Financial Mathematical Degree at the University
of Chicago next fall of 2003.
