Orsalia
Kalantzopoulos, a Greek national, joined
the World Bank in 1984 as an Economist in the
Development Research Department. From 1986 through
1993, she held development research assignments
and operational assignments in the East Asia,
Africa and South Asia. In May 1993, Ms. Kalantzopoulos
was selected as the Assistant to the Managing
Directors and the President, and in January
1996 she was promoted to Adviser to the Managing
Directors. In July 1997, she was appointed Director,
Caribbean Country Management Unit, Latin America
and the Caribbean Region. On April 1, 2003,
she was appointed Country Director and Regional
Coordinator for Southeast Europe, the position
she currently holds. In this position she leads
the development and implementation of the World
Bank's country and regional assistance strategies
for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia
and Montenegro, the Former Yugoslav Republic
of Macedonia and Kosovo.
