John
Pollner is Lead Financial Sector Specialist
in the Finance Sector Unit of the World Bank's
Latin America Region. He has specialized in
the development of projects and research in
catastrophe insurance and risk transfer instruments
for developing countries, and the use of multi-instrument
structures (including Bank credit lines) to
support catastrophe insurance coverage mechanisms.
He also works extensively in banking sector
regulation and balance sheet restructuring including
the modernization of bank resolution and exit
procedures, as well as in areas pertaining to
the reform of private pension systems and their
investment environments. Mr. Pollner has worked
on lending projects and economic sector work
in Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina,
Paraguay, Central America and the Caribbean.
Prior to the Bank he was employed at the International
Monetary Fund. Mr. Pollner has a Finance MBA
degree from the University of California at
Berkeley.
