Milan
Simic is a member of the Natural Hazards
team within Benfield ReMetrics. He is a civil
engineer with 15 years experience in hazard
and loss assessment, engineering consulting,
research and teaching. After gaining his BSc
degree in Civil Engineering, Milan worked on
dam design, parallel to completing the MSc in
Hydraulic Structures. After his PhD in Earthquake
Engineering, Milan worked in engineering consultancy
where he specialised in underground structures,
bridges, buildings, tunnels, offshore structures
and nuclear power stations. Milan joined the
Benfield ReMetrics Natural Hazards Team in 1999,
where his main roles include hazard/risk modelling
for insurance/reinsurance purposes and vulnerability
assessment. He was instrumental in creating
Benfields cutting edge earthquake loss
models. Milan is a Chartered Civil Engineer
through the UK Institution of Civil Engineers
and has authored many papers and magazine feature
articles on the subject of earthquake loss assessment
and soil-structure interaction.
