Marc
Bernstein joined Wells Fargo in 1985 as an analyst in
the Management Sciences Department of the Finance Group.
In 1989, he became finance manager for the Business
Loan Division before being named manager of planning
and analysis for the Business Banking Group in 1991.
In 1992, Bernstein established the Customer Information
and Risk Management (CIRM) Division in the Business
Banking Group. As the manager of CIRM, Bernstein led
his team in developing new scoring technologies and
risk management techniques, and created the group's
database marketing initiatives. In December 1996, Bernstein
was appointed head of Business Direct and, 18 months
later, was promoted to executive vice president. Bernstein
holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard, where he was
awarded the Allyn J. Young Prize in economics. He has
also earned a master's degree in statistics from Columbia
University and an MBA from Stanford University.
