Thomas
Glaessner rejoined the World Bank as Lead Financial
Economist, and now Lead Economist in the Financial
Sector in February 2000. In this job, he is responsible
for helping to define the approach of the Bank to
developing emerging local securities markets in close
coordination with the Treasury of the World Bank.
Until January 2000 Mr. Glaessner was a senior strategist
within Soros Fund Management LLC. He supported the
portfolio managers for the quantum emerging growth
and quantum funds in design of top-down investment
strategies in either foreign exchange or fixed income
in developed and emerging markets. Previously, Mr.
Glaessner served within the World Bank East Asia region,
the Latin America region, and the Financial Risk Management
Unit. Prior to working for the World Bank, Mr. Glaessner
spent five years with the International Finance Division
of the Federal Reserve Board. Mr. Glaessner completed
his Ph.D. in Economics and Finance at the University
of Virginia, graduate work in Economics and Finance
at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and received
his B.A. from Kenyon College.
