Presenter Bios: Margaret Miller

Ms. Margaret Miller

Ms. Miller is a Senior Economist in the Human Development Network. She has also worked as Senior Economist in both the Corporate Strategy Group and in the Office of the Chief Economist of the World Bank. Since 1998 she has been leading research on credit information and credit registries and is the editor of a forthcoming book, to be published in 2002 by MIT Press, which presents the World Bank's work on this topic. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics (1995) from the University of California at Berkeley where she submitted a dissertation on the importance of information in the U.S. small business credit market. She also holds a Master's Degree in International Policy Studies (1986) and a Bachelor's Degree with honors (1986) in Economics, both from Stanford University. Her previous work experience includes three years Mexico City where she worked as a researcher on the computer industry and at a non-profit organization seeking to develop closer ties between high tech firms and Mexican universities.
