You can save the OVC Toolkit on your own computer, or you can save it on a CD-ROM, or a USB device. When you have your own copy, you can browse the main pages of the OVC Toolkit much more rapidly, and you will not need Internet access at all. If you stay on-line, you can quickly browse the main pages of the OVC Toolkit and still be able to use the links that lead to other websites. You can download two different versions of the toolkit. The first is a light version (11.3 MB) that only contains the toolkit pages (no additional documents). The second is much heavier (almost 100 MB) and also contains a library of World Bank and Unicef documents to which the toolkit links. This latter version is very heavy and will take a lot of time to save over a slow Internet connection. The files you download are zipped. So to open the file that you have downloaded, you need a zip program. There are two common zip programs, and chances are you already have one installed. If you don’t, we recommend WinRAR, that you can download for free from Download.com’s WinRAR page. The other common zip program is WinZIP, and can be downloaded from Download.com’s WinZIP page. To download the OVC Toolkit, here is what you do:
Saving the OVC Toolkit can take a long time – in particular if you have chosen the extended version. If your Internet connection is very slow, we suggest that you start saving and then go for lunch or a meeting and leave the computer to do the job while you do something else. When the OVC Toolkit is saved on your computer, it will appear as a zip file icon. How you open it depends on what zip program you have installed! |
