A
regional conference on National Poverty Reduction
Strategies for low income countries from the East
Asia and Pacific Region was convened jointly by the
Asian Development Bank, the International Monetary
Fund, the United Nations Development Programme, and
the World Bank.
The Forum had three objectives:
- to
review and exchange experience on the development
of poverty reduction strategies in East Asia;
- to
identify obstacles and challenges countries face
in designing and implementing their strategies;
and
- to
derive lessons for the future.
The
Forum was also intended to generate inputs for the
on-going comprehensive joint staff review of the PRSP
approach being carried out by the World Bank and IMF.
