The primary goal of the set of the training courses
is to help mainstream the environment into the decision-making
process through empowering professionals from government
agencies, research institutes, universities, and other
groups to enable them to analyze environmental implications
of development policies, to derive relevant policy recommendations,
conduct environmentally-sound project analysis, to valuate
project outputs, and evaluate outcomes.
The specific goals of the course are :
- strengthen the analytical and training capacity
of the Bank's partner institutes in China by training
Chinese professionals from those partner institutes
with the most up-to-date knowledge in environmental
economics, environmental analysis of development
policies, environmental assessment and valuation,
and environmental management;
- facilitate the development of nation-wide environmental
training and information dissemination through local
institutes and a network of course graduates; and
- build the links between trainees and international
institutions, especially the World Bank, for future
cooperation.
