Jacob M. Benus is director of International Safety
Net (ISN) group at Abt Associates. He has over 25
years of experience in the evaluation of domestic
and international social safety net and labor projects.
Recently, Dr. Benus completed several international
projects for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development
Bank, the Czech Republic and China. Many of these
projects have involved the design of new programs
and the evaluation of their cost-effectiveness. In
designing these programs. Dr. Benus obtained his Ph.D.
in economics in 1973 from the University of Michigan.
