As Senior Economist and Team Leader, Gordon Betcherman
is responsible for leading research, policy and operational
support activities in a variety of areas including
industrial relations, core labor standards, labor
law, active labor market policies and support for
unemployed workers. Prior to joining the Bank in 1998,
he held senior positions in think-tanks and the private
sector. He has published widely in the fields of labor
economics and industrial relations and has been a
frequent speaker and media commentator. Dr. Betcherman
obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California
at Los Angeles.
