Indermit Gill is Lead Economist for Human Development
in the Latin American and Caribbean Region of the
World Bank. He worked as a country economist in the
Brazil Country Management Unit and, before that, as
a labor economist in the Labor Markets Group. Prior
to joining the Bank he taught for several years at
the State University of New York at Buffalo. His recent
policy work has been in the areas of economic growth,
risk management, labor markets, training and social
security. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University
of Chicago.
