Martin Rama is Lead Economist with the Development
Research Group of the World Bank. His main area of
work is labor market. He has managed large research
projects on labor policies and institutions, on income
support programs for the unemployed, and on public
sector downsizing. In the context of the latter project,
he is involved in World Bank supported programs to
reform the public sector in developing countries and
transition economies. Prior to joining the World Bank
in 1998, he was affiliated with the Centro de Investigaciones
Economicas, a non-partisan think-tank in Uruguay.
For the last ten years he has been a visiting professor
at the University of Paris, where he teaches development
economics.
