Kalanidhi Subbarao is a lead economist responsible
for social protection issues in the Africa Region
of the World Bank. He has worked extensively on poverty
analysis, particularly in the domain of safety nets,
and participated in numerous operations bearing on
social protection including recently in East Asian
countries following the financial crisis of 1997.
He is currently engaged in the Region's ongoing work
on orphans, risk assessments, and on social protection
dimensions in PRSPs in a number of countries.
