Mr.
de Neubourg studied Economics, Sociology and Philosophy
at the University of Antwerp and Leuven (KUL) and
obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from the University
of Groningen. From 1976 till 1985 he was assistant
professor at the University of Groningen. He published
several books and articles on international comparative
labour market studies, macroeconomic policy and productivity.
Currently, he is Professor of Economics at the Faculty
of Economics and Business Administration of the Maastricht
University and Director of the graduate program in
International Economic Studies. As a Jean Monnet Professor,
he also teaches at the Université de Liège
in Belgium. He researched and acted as a consultant
on behalf of research councils, private companies,
government agencies, the International Labour Organization
(ILO), the World Bank, the United Nations Development
Program (UNDP) and the European Commission (EU). He
currently prepares publications including two books
on the changes in the welfare regimes in transition
economies and a textbook on the socio-economics of
Welfare States (together with G. Esping-Andersen).
