The objective of the workshop was to review and exchange experience on the mainstreaming of gender in national poverty reduction strategies in CIS-7 countries; to identify obstacles and challenges countries face in mainstreaming gender while designing and implementing their strategies; to derive lessons for the future and help formulate a shared view of next steps for each country.

Country delegations comprised from national and local government officials, representatives from civil society including NGOs, women's machineries, academics, and donor representatives.
