Jacqueline A. Ashby is, since 1996, Director of Research, Natural Resource
Management at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), and
Coordinator for CGIAR Systemwide Program on Participatory Research and Gender
Analysis, convened by CIAT.
Dr. Ashby, a Rural Development Sociologist, has
a B.A. Hons in History from University of York, England and a Diploma of
Education from University of Cambridge, England. In 1980 she was awarded a
PhD in Development Sociology from University of Cornell, USA. In the period
1980-1987 she was posted at CIAT as a Rockefeller Postdoctoral Fellow and as
a Senior Staff Sociologist working for IFDC, USA. In 1987 she was appointed
Senior Scientist at CIAT managing a special project funded by the Kellogg
Foundation. In 1992-1995 she was Program Leader for Hillsides Agroecosystem CIAT.
