This website contains information about the International Workshop on Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) that took place in Washington D.C., United States, on 10-14 May 1998. The website was established in late 1997 (redesigned in August 2002) as means of communicating with prospective participants and other interested parties, and the global CBNRM community. The website has become a permanent repository of all information pertaining to the workshop, including preparing and organizing it, the workshop itself, the output of the workshop, and related activities.
The Background describes why the workshop was organized, the preparation process, key elements of the workshop, ideas about the outcome, etc. It also presents the Sponsors and Partners, the Steering Committee and the Advisory Committee. The overall framework for the workshop followed from a number of Objectives and was structured along Themes. The Program presents the detailed program for the week-long workshop. Specific information on key elements of the program, namely the Plenaries, the Case Studies and the regional Working Groups, is available. Detailed contact information for all Participants is included. A final Report on the workshop is available. Information on Follow-Up activities is included.
