12. Partnerships

Overview & Instructor Notes

This module describes partnerships between schools, governments and private industry and provides some examples of various partnerships.

The notion of partnerships is important for any jurisdiction contemplating effective use of ICT in their educational system. It is important to highlight the need for partnerships in all areas of ICT in education:

  • Partnerships may be required across government to be able to develop a national network or affordable connectivity.
  • Partnerships may be needed with private companies to support the technology in schools.
  • Partnerships may be needed with post-secondary institutions to support professional development and pre-service training in ICTs in education.
  • Partnerships may be needed with private industry to develop the necessary local content to use on the networks and computers that are made available.

The slide presentation overviews some of the partnerships that have been established in Saskatchewan, Canada to support ICT in education. These slides provide examples and the facilitator should attempt to find relevant local or regional partnerships and substitute them as needed.
