Overview & Instructor Notes

This activity has two purposes:

  1. To get the participants to introduce each other and find out somehting about each other and
  2. To get the participants to start thinking about the issues that they believe are important for consideration during the workshop.

When the participants introduce each and tell the group the two issues that they believe are the most important these issues should be recorded for later use in the workshop. One way to do this is to enter the list of issues into a word processor as the participants give them. Project this list on the screen so everyone can see the list.

At the conclusion of the day, the working group should review the issues and group them into logical categories like " content development, infrastructure and connectivity, professional development, implementation etc." These can then be used as the basis for the work on moving from issues to policy goals later in the workshop. Print the list and provide copies to all the participants at the beginning of the day's workshop.

This activity could take up to an hour depending on the number of participants. It is important to let all participants have the opportunity to tell the group their consensus on the most important issues.
