Activity 3: Where Do We Stand activity
Module 1: Introduction, Content and Curriculum

time to finish this activity
30 Min

Overview & Instructor Notes

This activity is the first in the series on change management.

The purpose of the activity is to get the participants to consider two opposing statements and select the one that most closely reflects their own opinion.

The wording of the statements has intentionally been selected to make the decision difficult and the statements are not necessarily opposites. The purpose of this is to stimulate discussion regarding the use of ICT. It is important to tell the participants that there are no right answers.

One method of sharing the results is for the facilitator to read each statement and ask which groups agree with the statement. If there is disagreement within the groups then provide them with the opportunity to explain their decisions.

This activity will take about 30 minutes to complete.

Activity

Objective

This activity will help prepare you to engage in the 'ICT Visioning' and policy development activities later in the workshop. Your discussions will identify some issues related to implementing ICT in education. It is important that the policy goals that are developed reflect the beliefs of the participants regarding the use of ICT in education.

Instructions

  1. Complete the attached worksheet [pdf 50KB]. For each pair of statements select the one which is closest to your own feelings or opinion.

  2. When you have completed this compare your choices with your group. Reach consensus within your group on the correct choice for each pair of choices.

  3. Reassemble into the large group and share your choices with the other groups.
