Overview & Instructor Notes

This module provides information on the effect of ICT - and specifically the Internet - on instruction. It reviews a variety of teaching styles and types of learning and provides one useful definition of "Constructivist Learning".

The PowerPoint presentation in this module should be presented in the first or second day of the workshop. Present the PowerPoint presentation before beginning the Strategic Planning module.

While there is no activity for this module, there are URLs provided on ICT and Education Reform and participants should be encouraged to go to those sites when they are in the computer lab.

An important message in this module is the fundamental need for a shift from a traditional lecture teaching style to a learner-centered approach. This shift will require professional development for practicing teachers and a change in teacher training programs. The magnitude of this task should not be underestimated.
