Overview & Instructor Notes

It is important to have presented the slides on Vision statements prior to doing this activity. Leave the sample vision statement on the screen during this activity as a model for the participants to follow.

A vision statement should be developed prior to doing the activity "Moving from Issues to Strategic Goals". After the vision statement is developed then throughout the remainder of the workshop the participants can reflect back on it to insure that their goals and plans reflect the intent of the vision statement.

When the small groups present their vision statements to the large group it may be possible to revise them and come to a consensus on a vision statement immediately. If this is not possible then assign the task of final development and revisions to the working group and have them report back to the large group later in the week with the results of their work.

This activity takes between 45 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete.
