The purpose of this activity is to design a communications plan to promote the strategic plan and the Vision for ICT in Education. The communications plan is an important component of the strategic plan.

This activity should be done after the draft policy and strategic plans have been developed. Have the participants break into small groups. Use the same groups that were used for the development of the draft policy and strategic plans.

Participants should use the draft policy and strategic plan as the subject matter for the communications plan.

This activity will take approximately 1 hour to complete.

Instructions

  1. In your groups identify all of the interest groups that should be notified about the strategic plan.

  2. Identify the different methods of communication that are available and practical for each group.

  3. Design a plan for the initial announcement about the 'new strategic plan' for ICT.

    • What type of information must be communicated?
    • Who is the target audience?
    • Who delivers the message?
    • How frequent is communication required?

  4. As a group consider the contents and impact of a Press Release announcing the 'ICT Vision for Education'

    • What are the key points that must be made?
    • Who are the target audiences?
    • What are the questions most likely to be asked after the announcement is made?
    • What will the likely reaction be to the announcement by each audience?
    • What will your follow-up communication plan be?

  5. Write a 100-word press release announcing the ICT Vision.
