Venue
- The
meeting space for the workshop needs to have an area for discussion/group
work and access to computers. This can be accomplished either in a
computer lab that also has an adjoining conference area, or by using
separate rooms.
- If
possible, it is recommended that the workshop take place at a semi-secluded
site outside of the capital city. This will help to ensure that participants
can concentrate their energies on the activities of the workshop and
to avoiding the continued distractions that can afflict policymakers
when they can easily 'duck out' to attend meetings or other components
of their typical daily routines.
Computer
requirements
- Internet
access in presentation area and in computer lab.
- Computers!
Computers will need a web browser (preferably Internet Explorer) and
a word processor installed on them. A lab of ten to twelve computers
provides sufficient access for participants to have hands on access
to the Internet during the workshop.
- A
data projector so that computer output can been displayed on a screen.
- A
projection screen.
Other
equipment and logistical support
- PRINTED
copies of workshop materials for all participants. These can be made
during the workshop to permit revisions as required.
- Human
resource support in the computer lab section for participants requiring
assistance when accessing using the World Links discussion area and
other online resources.
- Support
to participants in computer use and in obtaining passwords
- Printer
and paper. Printer needs only to be connected to one workstation.
- Copier
and sufficient paper to make participant materials on a daily basis.
- Floppy
disks.
- Flip
Chart and markers.
- Tape
and stapler.
- Name
tags for participants.
- Note
paper for participants.
- Assistance
with small group work and recording information on flip charts.
- Depending
on the size of group and the acoustics of the room, a public address
system (microphone and speakers) may be needed.
- An
administrative assistant needs to be available for duplication of
materials, word processing of the materials produced during the workshop
and other administrative support.
Additional
information
- Someone
will need to collect as much information as possible about the host
country's education policy and ICT policies before the conference
and send them to the workshop facilitator.
- With
the aid of these materials, the workshop facilitator should modify
the presentations and activities to add as many locally relevant references
as possible.
