Fighting Corruption through Collective Action in Today's Competitive Marketplaces
June 9-11, 2009 World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC

Many companies operating in less developed economies are still faced with the dilemma of paying bribes to win business or withdrawing from high-risk markets. The difficulties of operating in weak rule of law countries and competing against companies with weak governance standards, are forcing companies to seek new strategies to fight bribery and extortion. This program offered business executives an in-depth look at mitigating the risks and costs of corruption by examining real-life dilemmas that businesses face in promoting good governance practices and implementing anti-corruption tools in high-risk environments. Participants learned how their companies/organizations can stand up to corruption and which effective anti-corruption mechanisms they can implement in high risk industries and countries.
