Grant Purpose:
The grant included the following objectives:
(1) Reinforcing the ability of local communities, and in particular women and youth, to
identify needs and manage their own development in a participatory and democratic way;
(2) Assisting youth and women, and the communities they are part of, in overcoming the
psychological trauma of war;
(3) Increasing access to basic social services for war-affected communities;
(4) Improving livelihoods for war-affected community members through income generating
activities, particularly women and youth;
(5) Encouraging mutual confidence and social reintegration, particularly of women and
youth, to build peace.

Grant Activities:
The grant financed the following activities:
(1) Training of trainers in trauma counseling
(2) Capacity building at the local level to ensure a greater participation and civic
engagement
(3) Rehabilitation of basic social infrastructure (schools, health centers, water systems, etc.)
(4) Income generating activities for youth and women
(5) Social, cultural and sport activities to enhance community dialogue and promote peace
and reconciliation
