Grant Purpose:
The purpose of the project was to support a social investment fund in Kosovo entitled "The Kosovo Fund for Community Initiative". The main objectives of the Fund included:
(1) To assist communities to rehabilitate or develop basic economic and social infrastructure and services in small municipalities and villages and marginalized communities, while stimulating the local economy and creating jobs.
(2) To support the development of local governance structures that respond to the needs of communities in a transparent, equitable and accountable manner.

Grant Activities:
The grant financed small-scale projects identified as priorities by communities, including:
(1) Small scale Social and Economic Infrastructure - repair of schools, health clinics, recreational, cultural facilities, rural roads, water systems;
(2) Community Services - elderly, disabled, widows, youth;
(3) Business Development Activities - vocational and on the job training;
(4) Basic equipment -solid waste containers, vital equipment for utilities.
The Fund financed projects throughout Kosovo, with targeting criteria that gave priority to projects from the most war-affected communities with no access of other sources of investment, and from vulnerable groups, particularly minorities.
