Grant Recipient:
Canadian Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) |
Grant Purpose:
The project aimed at strengthening Burundi's indigenous capacity for the management, prevention and resolution of conflict. More specifically, it had the objective of fostering local expertise in interest-based negotiation and problem-solving techniques by training local civil society and state actors, and by training trainers.
|
Grant Activities:
The project supported:
(1) Training a broad range of civil society actors including youth associations, women's organizations and churches, as well as teachers and official actors, in particular in the Beneficiary's Ministry of Human Rights, with a view to fostering local expertise in interest-based negotiation and problem-solving techniques;
(2) Training trainers who are regularly called upon by NGOs and the Ministry of Human Rights to train others and provide advice in managing conflict.
The grant financed consultants' services and operating costs (incremental expenses incurred on account of grant implementation, management and monitoring, including office supplies, in-country transportation, office administration, telecommunications and local contractual staff).
