Field Visits
As part of the nine-month dynamic learning process, 11 field
visits to relevant case study sites enriched the learning process
through interviews with experts, and dialogues with program beneficiaries
and other stakeholders. An important objective of the field visits
was to add a human dimension to the case studies by providing
the views and opinions of the poor themselves.
The visits allowed participants to share and debate successful,
and not so successful, experiences with scaling up poverty reduction.
Through these discussions, the participants identified key design,
management, and implementation factors of successful scaling up,
as well as specific program weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
The outcomes of the visits were discussed in conference sessions.
Each field visit page provides a summary of the case study, lessons
learned and observations from the field visit, links to relevant
conference sessions, case videos and documentaries, and interactive
videoconference discussions comparing and contrasting cases with
similar objectives but from different countries.
