About the Initiative
The Scaling Up Poverty Reduction Initiative is part of a global learning process that allows key development actors to share their experiences and policy lessons learned from poverty reduction initiatives around the world. Learning events and activities over a nine-month period drew on leading-edge information and communication technologies to bring together participants from across the development community. A series of case studies, multicountry interactive videoconferences, online dialogues, and field visits led up to a working Conference in Shanghai, on May 25 - 27, 2004. Since then many new post-Shanghai learning activities have taken place. The lessons of this global learning process are being shared through numerous publications, videos, a CD-ROM and this web site. The activities are sponsored by the World Bank in cooperation with other multilateral and bilateral donors, with the Government of China hosting the main event in Shanghai.
This website is designed and developed by the Multimedia Center of the World Bank Institute. The team consists of Nansia Constantinou, John Didier, Han Fraeters, Arseny Malov, Hector Montenegro, Oxana Minchenko, Jeeyeon Seo and Patrick Tse.
